I wonder if these are the original DM500S, approved by Dream multimedia?
BTW, Where do you find that disclaimer saying no warranty?
hi - the ones from SatSun are clones and very cheap. I've ordered one and will fill you in on what its like as soon as it arrives.

I'd be interested to know if they survive the "clone attack" images, like Gemini 4.3.1.

Clones are really not clones, when they come out of the same factory as the originals.
Is it any surprise the quality of the unit is so exact down to the packaging and holograms.
The Chinese version is being produced by GreatDVB of Shenzhen China. They hold and display the proper FCC and EC certificates to show they are or were the point of origin.
Now I wonder what Dreambox did to tick these guys off. If they were going to steel the product, it would be better to change the name and logo and dump them onto the market at a higher profit than 30% over the cost of production. I think their rubbing Dreambox's noise in it.

Some of the clones are not made 100% like the originals. Some of the boxes are made with the same mac-adress, thats how they get detected.

What Dreambox did to tick them off?
If they are hired by Dreambox to produce their hardware, they have a deal that say how much they get payed per unit. And when these guys discovered that they could get more money selling them illigally, they got tempted..
And when copying/stealing a product like this, you always get a higher price when you sell it with the brand name. The marked knows Dreambox, and many wants one. I guess its harder to sell if you redesign it and name it "ChianBox", because nobody knows this brand.

But there are some copies out there that are made like that, like one that is named Eagle.

This is Jason from Sat Sun, Digital TV, I have honored all Dreamboxs' I have sold. and provide free return shipping. The reason the price goes down to 100 usd is because shipping goes down as you buy more. Also I am not Chinese, I am American.

Hi Jason,

can you explain the warranty please.
You say you offer 'NO RETURNS', so even if 'dead on arrival' we cannot return??
Also, you say two years warranty on DM7020 = return to manufacturer, are you saying that dream-multimedia will honour the warranty on these boxes?? Would it be 'return to Germany'??

I honour the warranty for the dreamboxs' my self. but for the other products like viewsat and the pci cards. two many newbies break that stuff and expect me to pay for it. so I had to put in the no returns language in.
